ME & ERYKAH BADU

A friend of mine in office always told me that my style looks like Erykah Badu. Firstly, I didn't really care about that. Then i today I browsed to find out who's the hell of Erykah Badu? Is she a model or actress.

And here is what i found on internet:

Erica Abi Wright born February 26, 1971,better known by her stage name Erykah Badu. She is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Her work includes elements from R&B, hip hop and jazz. She is best known for her role in the rise of the neo soul sub-genre, and for her eccentric, cerebral musical stylings and sense of fashion. She is known as the "First Lady of Neo-Soul" or the "Queen of Neo-Soul".

Early in her career, Badu was recognizable for wearing very large and colorful head wraps. For her musical sensibilities, she has often been compared to jazz great Billie Holiday. She was a core member of the Soulquarians, and is also an actress having appeared in a number of films playing a range of supporting roles in movies such as Blues Brothers 2000, The Cider House Rules, House of D, and the documentary Before the Music Dies.

Okey so, Erykah Badu is a truly talented artist with eccentric style. colorful head wraps is her icon. And she loves fashionable glasses.

Then I really found some similarity between me and Erykah Badu. We are Pisces girl who love fashion. If she is song writer, I'm book writer. If she is an actress, I'm a screen writer wannabe. And here our pictures. But I still don't understand why my friend said i remind her of Erykah Badu.

THE PATH OF MY DREAM

Since I was kid, I always dream one day I’ll be superstar in writing. I keep convincing myself, the dream will come true.

When I was kid, I had a delay in learning to read. Even I couldn’t read when I was 7. Of course it was biggest problem when I was in the first year of elementary school. I got very bad score in the class, and teacher almost said I was stupid. No I wasn’t. I was just dyslexia. My mom taught me how to read and write patiently every day. And when I was turned to 8, I did it. Finally, I could read and write. Although, I still found missing letters in my writing.

Soon after I could read and write. I began as a rising star student in the class. I always be the best student with very good mark. After finished my study in elementary school, I continued in one of best state junior high school. After that I continued my study in one of best Senior High School in Jakarta. In Indonesia, you have to be smart and diligent to enter state high school. And my high school (SMU 70) had the second highest passing grade in Indonesia. The most favorite high school in Jakarta. All students were smart students with at least average score 7.5 (from 10 scale) from their previous junior high school. Yeah, I was not always the best in the class, but I was still the best five in the class amongst smart students.

When I graduated from high school, I had offering for scholarship in abroad. But my parent didn’t allow me to take for simple reason. I’m the only daughter that my parent has. In our culture, most parents will be more overprotective with their daughter (less than 25 years old or unmarried). And I buried my dream to continue my study in abroad. I chose Bogor Agricultural University. It’s one of best university in Indonesia. More than 1000 high school graduates are competing every year to get one seat. Only the smartest and the luckiest from 1000 candidates will be enrolled, after national test. And I did.

Why agriculture?

Although I was dyslexia, I have good talent in writing. Since I was in elementary school, I always enjoyed language class, where I could express my imagination in long writing. I wrote poems then I presented it in some of stage performances. I also wrote drama and then directed my friends for small stage performance. It was awesome experiences.

In High school, I found more excitements. Not only writing for poems or drama, I also joined in school magazine. I enjoyed my job as columnist and reporter. I dreamed one day I would work in media as a journalist.

In Indonesia, we study many subjects. But in the last year of high school, we have to choose one from 3 option; science, socio-economic, and language. Science for those smart students, especially for them who have almost excellent score in math, physics, biology, chemistry. Socio-economic for them who have not good score in science subjects but have good score in economic, accountancy, history. And the last one is language, for them who don’t have any competency in both of (science or socio-economic). Teacher will select us based on our score not our passion.

That time I know, my passion was language. I planned to continue my study in literature faculty to be real writer or in communication faculty to be the journalist. But unfortunately, I was categorized as smart student with excellent score in science. My math score was above the average score (9.7 from 10 scale), biology 9, physics 8, chemistry 8.5. And I had no choice, I joined science class. In here, joining science class is pride. Every parent proud if they children are submitted in science class, especially in the most favorite high school.
And the reason why I chose Bogor Agricultural University was because that university has blue jacket. And blue is my favorite color. That’s it. No matter if I have to study not following my passion as long I love the jacket. I knew that was ridiculous reason. That time I was thinking my future was so blur. Being an author and working in media was only dream. I passed my university without passion. But I graduated with honor predicate as bachelor of agriculture.

As soon after I graduated from university. I worked in shipping company. I was a junior researcher for their business development. And there finally I published my first book. A novel “Surat Cinta Saiful Malook” (Saiful Malook’s Love Letter). It’s a love story with socio-cultural background. Saiful Malook is a legendary lake in Peshawar Pakistan.

That the first time I proved to the world that I have talent in writing. Soon the novel became so popular. I was covered in some media. That was the first time I met with Metro TV. I was interviewed for a live morning talk show regarded my novel.
After that I kept writing. Another book was published. Then destiny brought me to my dream job. I started work in Metro TV on Sept 2007. Although not as journalist, but I’m enjoying my desk job; making proposal of creative communication campaign, the concept of media management.

Then my third book, “The Chosen Prince”was coming out in the beginning of 2009. My fourth book, “Nasi Goreng untuk Obama” (Fried Rice for Obama) for more than 400 pages published on March 2010. Not only for book, I wrote for several blogs and media.
At the end of 2010, I felt my life ended after worst traffic accident. I almost lost my right hand. I stopped writing for a while. I learned how to type and write to speed up my recovery. And another book done, waiting for publish. While I have another more than 200 pages book ready to be finished.

I really love my job. I love the place and people there. But suddenly i remember with my own dream. I'll use the moment of new year to start my new life. Its hard, but i have to. I need more challenges.

And here I'm. Soon, you'll not only read my books or articles. You may see my writing on screen. I'm gonna be a full time screen writer. I'm happy finally i can decide my own future.

DON'T TOO MUCH ASKING

We always ask and Quran has answered it.

1. We sometimes ask: WHY i'm tested?

QURAN answers :
"Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, “We believe”, and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false."
[Surah Al-Ankabut ayat 2-3]

2. We ask: Why this calamity is so hard?

QURAN answers:
"ur Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. ,"
[Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 286]

3. We ask: Why we don't get what we want?
QURAN answers :
"Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.."
[Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 216]

4. Why I feel frustrated.

QURAN answers:
"So lose not heart, nor fall into despair: For ye must gain mastery if ye are true in Faith."
[Surah Al-Imran ayat 139]

5. How should i face this calamity?

QURAN answers:
"Seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard save for the humble-minded,"
[Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 45]

6. What will get from this?

QURAN answers:
"Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.
[Surah At-Taubat ayat 111]

7. Who should I expect?

QURAN MENJAWAB:
'But if they turn away, Say: “Allah sufficeth me: there is no god but He: On Him is my trust,- He the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme!”"
[Surah At-Taubat ayat 129]

8. I cant stand by anymore!!!!!

QURAN answers:
"......“Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and we shall take every care of him.”."
[Surah Yusuf ayat 12]

9. Why my heart isn't comfort?

QURAN answers
“Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction.

NASI GORENG UNTUK OBAMA

Coming soon in the middle of March, my newest novel to welcome President visiting to Jakarta-Indonesia (20-22 March 2010).

President Obama has excited Indonesians around the country, just as it has people around the world. But for many people here, Obama's personal connections to this diverse country bring special meaning, such as his first-hand experiences with Islam and knowledge of Indonesian culture. More than once President Obama has said he misses the country's signature dish, nasi goreng, or fried rice.

NASI Goreng, who doesn’t know with nasi goreng? One of Indonesian delicacies that use rice as raw material. Everybody loves nasi goreng. Even Mr. President Barack Obama.

SUAEB BIN NGATMO, a poor young man who leaves his hometown to Jakarta to get job. Suaeb wants to collect money as much as he can get to continue his higher study. But unfortunately, Jakarta is not beautiful as he imagined. Get job in Jakarta is not easy. But Suaeb never stop to dream.

Nasi Goreng has made Suaeb meet with the first man in US, as well brings him to his dream. Hows the dramatic meeting between Suaeb and Mr. President?

Some facts in this simple idea of novel make it’s not only a fiction. You’ll get a lot of information that may be you’ve not known yet, e.g.; Obama’s favorite food is cheese burger with Dijon mustard and French fries, John Favreau is an important guy behind Obama’s speech, etc.

There are funny, touched, and some that will make you smile. And the most important is these 420 pages of novel teaches and inspires the readers how to reach their dreams without limitations. Even it’s only your impossible dreams.

"Indonesians have a genuine affection for Barack Obama, and Risma's story
captures that quite nicely. I think the former Jakarta resident, now U.S.
president, will enjoy reading this book himself."
- Dalton Tanonaka, Metro TV news anchor

Dont forget to check it up on your nearest book stores in Indonesia, start from 18 March 2010.

MOUTH CONTROL

One of its disaster is that it looks very light but is very heavy, that is why Prophet Mohammad's laid much stress on taking care of it because more of the disasters come due to of the tongue only. Until tongue does not start, there is no quarrel or litigation with anybody, when it starts, every such things is there. Pious religious scholars have collected these disasters of tongue at one place after extracting them from Hadith. These disasters according to Imam Ghazali (Radhiyallaho anho) :

1. To talk about the thing which has no benefit.
2. To talk more than needed.
3. To talk about nonsense things like telling stories of women, transgressors or tyrants with interest.
4. To indulge in (useless) debates and discussions.
5. To quarrel.
6. To talk with formality and artificiality.
7. To talk obscene language and to abuse.
8. To use fool language.
9. To say La'anat.
10. To sing and to read such poetry which is against the Shari'ah.
11. To chat and laugh more.
12. To laugh at others in which others are looked down, upon.
13. To reveal some body's secret.
14. To make false promise.
15. To tell lie unless it is extremely necessary and nobody's right is being snatched, there it is allowed.
16. Ghibah (Backbiting/Gossips):- This becomes one's food and gives rise to many evils. many people say that they are speaking truth, how is it Ghibah? This doubt is silly as Geebat takes place only when it is true, otherwise it is slandering. Of course, if there is a possibility of some Deeni or worldly harm to someone, then it is allowed to reveal his condition.
17. Double faced:- To say yes to everyone and in every group.
18. Flattering someone at his face. If it is felt that the listener will not feel proud instead may get more inclined towards virtue, then there is no harm.
19. Not to take care of minute mistakes during conversation as people say "above is Allah and below you." This is a bad thing, in it there is sort of equation between the creator and the creature.
20. To ask Ulama such questions which are not related to you.

So whenever you have to say something, don't say it abruptly, first think for two or three seconds that whether this thing which I am going to say, may not displease my real owner Allah. If one is fully satisfied that it is not so, then one should say without hesitation but only whatever is needed (not more than that). If there is slightest doubt, then keep quite, Insha Allah, you will get saved from all the disasters of tongue easily. Then if you make mistake by saying inadvertently bad words, you should say ASTAGHFIRULLAHALADZIM (I ask Allah forgiveness). May Allah forgive you.

Then what do you do when somebody say bad words to you? E.g.; asshole, bastard, monkey, etc.

1. Don’t be sad or feel angry/ insulted! Why should angry if it’s not yours.

2. Say ASTAGHFIRULLAHALADZIM and Smile.

3. Time to pray and lets see & wait your dua will be granted as soon as possible. Because Allah has guaranteed will grant all dua of people who helpless/ sad/ desperate/ hurt/ insulted/ sick/ etc.

Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember. [An-Naml (The Ant) 27:62]

I always feel happy when people try to make me sad/angry. It means I’ll have the best opportunity to ask something from Allah. The more people try to insult me, Insha Allah, I’ll be happier, because Allah will make me happy.

I’ll not reply what people do badly to me with the same think. If people say something bad to me, I’ll never ever reply with the same things.

Do you know a pot? If we pour tea-water into the pot, the pot will only pour out the tea water. If we pour coffee-water into the pot, the pot will only pour out the coffee water. If we pour pure-water into the pot, the pot will only pour out the pure-water. And if we pour dirty water into the pot, the pot will only pour out the dirty water.

If your mouth only can say bad things, means inside your heart only bad/dirty things as you say. Whatever that you say will measure the quality of your personality. Bad people will only say bad things. Good people will only say good things.
So if people say something bad to me, I prefer to smile. If I can I will say thanks to him/her who say that to me. Means he/she has gives me very good opportunity to let my prayer (dua) be granted by Allah.

4. Pray for them who say something bad to you or spread bad gossips to you. “May Allah bless you….”. Insha Allah, angels will pray the same for us.
Islam is Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin (Blessing for all). So as a muslim you should spread peaceful life to all (other people, animals, trees, etc).

P.S. Alhamdulillah I’m the happiest woman in the world.

THE BEST ATTITUDES TO FACE CALAMITY

Calamity means of A state or time of distress or misfortune; misery. Any great misfortune or cause of misery; -- generally applied to events or disasters which produce extensive evil, either to communities or individuals (thinkexist.com).

An event that brings terrible loss, lasting distress, or severe affliction; a disaster: A hurricane would be a calamity for this low-lying coastal region. Dire distress resulting from loss or tragedy. (thefreedictionary.com)

Then how we have to face calamity?

1. Believe whatever that happens in this world because of Allah’s wills.
Allah created us from mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge (mom & dad), then we were born to the world with specific sex, then Allah gives us the choices of life (education, career, work, etc), then we die. Allah gives us air to breath, water to drink, food to eat, perfect body, property-assets-good career after we makes some efforts to get it, a lovely husband/wife, happiness, cute babies, etc. Allah just lends us for a while, so Allah may take it back anytime.
The believer who affirms the Oneness of Allaah (Tawheed) knows that everything happens by the decree of Allaah; what Allaah wills happens and what He does not will does not happen; there is nothing that can block the will of Allaah from being executed in His creation. Thus the heart of the believer who affirms the Oneness of Allaah is at rest, and he knows that there is no room for regret or grief in his life, because the command of Allaah preceded (the event) and His will is executed.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al Lawh Al Mahfooz) before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allaah.
23. In order that you may not grieve at the things over that you fail to get, nor rejoice over that which has been given to you. And Allaah likes not prideful boasters”
[al-Hadeed 57:22-23]
“Say: ‘Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allaah has ordained for us. He is our Mawlaa (Lord, Helper and Protector).’ And in Allaah let the believers put their trust”
[al-Tawbah 9:51]

2. Be Patient
We should understand that Allah (swt) may test us with various calamities. We sometimes feel depress and sad in these situations and wonder why Allah (swt) allow us to go through these calamities.

Allah (swt) says in the Quran that which means:

“Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test).” [Quran, Al-Ankaboot (The Spider) 29:2-3]
“Do you think that you will enter Paradise before Allah tests those of you who fought (in His Cause) and (also) tests those who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)?” [Quran, Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) 3:142]
“You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become Al-Muttaqun (the pious ) then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters.” [Quran, Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) 3:186]
“Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil) ……”[Quran, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:155]
“Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to Us you will be returned.……”[Quran, Al-Anbiya (The Prophets) 21:35]
When we are in the middle of a calamity we should always remember Allah (swt) promise us that he will not burden us with more than we have the strength to bear.
“Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. “[Quran, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:286].
Never ever think that other people are not tested as we have had! Every single man/woman in the world must be tested, but with different proportion depend on their capacity. If you are tested as your friend/neighbor/brother/sister had, you must be can’t bear to handle it. And if they are tested as what you had, they must be can’t bear to handle it. If you don’t believe, spend your little time to have in-depth interview with your best friend about this. You’ll be so lucky being you. And will never think again that ‘Your neighbor grass is always greener than your own grass.”.

3. Try to understand there is something behind the calamity.
How? You can make a contemplation by yourself. Calamity is created to remind us and as an instructive admonition for whoever believe it. Calamity is created to train us to be tough and strong to face this life. Calamity is created to test us before we pass to the next level.
As a student of 5th grade, they need to pass difficult test before they enter to the next grade. It will always happen in life. Allah will test you with more and more difficult test depends on your capacity. But Allah will not burden you beyond your scope.
If you think that your calamity now is more difficult than before, means you are in higher level now. Do you think an 8th grade student will be tested the same as in 5th grade??? NO WAY. Your capacity now and before is totally different. I’m pretty sure you’ll not feel challenged do the same test as you did before. Then what for you have spent much time to get more lessons if you will only be tested as you did before when you had only less-lessons.
“ Verily, along with every hardship is relief “ [Quran, Al Insyirah (The Opening Forth) 94:6]
There will be happiness after sorrow. And when you’ve passed your calamity with big heart you’ll think how stupid you were crying for the simple test.
Read the Stories in the Quran and see how the Messengers, Prophets and other Pious Muslims and their Companions showed faith in Allah during extreme hardship and calamities. It may make us feel better and maintain complete faith in Allah SWT.

4. Keep trying for best. Never give up!
When you are tested with calamity, keep trying to find the solution. Don’t waste your time just being sad and crying all the time. But move forward to face the reality and keep trying for best.

“……Verily, Allah will not change the (good) condition of people as long as they don’t change their state (of goodness) themselves….” [Quran, Ar Ra’d (The Thunder) 13: 11]

Allah appreciates our efforts. There is no impossible if we try hard to reach our dreams/goals. You are what you think all day long. Keep trying, praying and let Allah decide the best for our life.

5. Remember Allah in abundance

By remembering Allah, The only GOD who creates us, world, flora & fauna, etc. Our heart will be comfort. Allah just lends (property, life, career, husband/wife, kids, etc) us for a while, so Allah may take it back anytime.

“….Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts finds rest.” [Quran, Ar Ra’d (The Thunder) 13:28]

“Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.” [Quran, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:152]

And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for the true believers in Allah. (They are those) who are certain that they are going to meet their Lord, and that unto Him they are going to return. [Quran, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2:45-46]

6. TAUBAT, ask repentance.
A believer is sometimes punished with afflictions because of some sins that he had committed

“ And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much” [Quran, Ash Shura (The Consultation) 42:30]

Well, now time for us to try to remember what we have done so we face this calamity?

There must be a cause of happening. For example big flood, there must be some irresponsible people who threw up the garbage not in right place, built house/building in water-absorption area.bla…..bla….

7. KEEP ISTIQAMAH!

The literal meaning of Istiqamah : to go straight into the right direction, acting rightly, allowing no deviation. It is derived from the stem "Qiyyam", which implies the continuity of doing something, following up with it and making sure that it is done in the right way and there is neither deviation nor swerving.
The term has been used by the Qur'an in many verses. Allah the Almighty says:
"Therefore, stand firm (on the straight path) as you are commanded and those who turn in repentance with you. And do not transgress, for He (Allah) sees well all that you do."
[Surah Hud (11): ayat 112]
Allah will always with us. Why should we afraid??? Remember whatever that happens in this world because of Allah wills.

P.S. Alhamdulillah I'm the happiest woman in the world :-)

THE YOUTH PLEDGE

" We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one motherland, Indonesia.
We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the nation of Indonesia.
We the sons and daughters of Indonesia, respect the language of unity, Indonesian."

Eighty one years ago, The Youth Pledge (Indonesian: Sumpah Pemuda), was a declaration made on 28 October 1928 by young Indonesian nationalists at a conference in the then-Dutch East Indies. At the time, the archipelago was still a colony of the Netherlands, and Indonesia was a new word. But still the youth pledged to fight for that one dream homeland, and the creation of that one nation called Indonesia.

But the historic Youth Pledge that remains the foundation of the Republic, did not emerge out of the blue during two days of discussions. It had been thought out and discussed long before.

The first Indonesian youth congress was held in Batavia, capital of the then-Dutch East Indies in 1926, but produced no formal decisions but did promote the idea of a united Indonesia. In October 1928, the second Indonesian youth congress was held at three different locations. In the first session, the hope was expressed that the congress would inspire the feeling of unity. The second session saw discussions about educational issues. In the third and final session, held at Jalan Kramat Raya No, 126, on October 28 participants heard the future Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya by Wage Rudolf Supratman. The congress closed with a reading of the youth pledge.

The Youth Pledge became the stepping-stone in the formation of the dream Republic: the Indonesian archipelago that consisted of more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia consists of 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited. These are scattered over both sides of the equator. The five largest islands are Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Papua and Sulawesi, inhabited by more than 300 ethnic groups, and variously colonized by the Dutch in the course of three centuries. This was going to become the homeland for all people inhabiting the islands - united as one nation " the Indonesian nation, united in the one State " the Indonesian State, and speaking one common language " Bahasa Indonesia.

It was only 17 years after the 1928 Youth Pledge, at the close of World War II, on 17 August 1945, when Soekarno and Hatta, on behalf of the people of Indonesia, finally proclaimed the Independence of Indonesia. And, based on the Youth Pledge principles and spirit, there emerged the 1945 Constitution, the 5 Principles of State, Pancasila, and the Indonesian national slogan :Bhinneka Tunggal Ika " meaning Unity in Diversity.

Youth is the hope of nation. In every country and nation, Youth is always being the
starting motor of movement. Even in some countries, Political youth movements are playing an increasingly active role, compensating for the lack of a strong opposition in mainstream politics.

The question is: " Do we have the same spirit as they did in 1928? Or are we divided along ethnic and religious fault lines, busy with our own interests at the expense of national unity? Or may be we are to old to be starting motor and the hope of this beloved country?"

Ask yourself! Why we have to debate for small reasons? Just because we are different (views, tribes, political countries, religion, etc).

"O mankind, WE have created you from a male and a female; And WE have made you tribes and sub-tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable among you, in the sight of ALLAH, is he who is the most righteous among you. Surely, ALLAH is All-Knowing, All-Aware." Q.S. Al Hujurat (49):13

In the context,
"Being different in gender" is a parallel thought to "being different ethnically" (in tribes and nations) but that this difference in us should lead us to get to know each other, make us interesting to each other, learn from each other and be challenged to compete in doing good, not to dispise and fight each other because he is different. The context quite clearly supports this meaning.

So why should we bother with the difference?

On this special day to commemorate The Youth Pledge. Lets unite for better Indonesian, better world.

MY FUTURE BOOKS

MY FUTURE BOOKS

Its been long time, I haven't updated this blog yet.  I had passed many months without writing here. I had passed so many moments. Yeah, I was pretty much busy. Even I had not enough time to reading or just sightseeing in book store as I did before. Beside my job, I had big future project. I was trying hard to prepare my next book. Alhamdulillah, finally I'm done. The draft had been finished since 3 weeks ago.

Then when I was ready with my draft, again I came to my 1st publisher who has popularized me. Then, I knew that they have already changed their policy. They would focus to non fiction book. I was back and hopeless. Well, I had never had problem with publishing before. My 1st novel was published easily. And it was marketed by itself to media. Blessing in disguised. Then my 2nd book, even i just wrote then I found it in the stores. But my 2nd book was just 'stupid book' without soul. Somebody asked me to help him. I was just a co-author. And it was not really my type.

Actually, I had done best thing that i could do for this emotionally book. I made it with all of passion and love in my heart. I hope the reader will feel the same as I felt, and will get the point from the story. I admitted, it was my great achievement. It was twice thicker than the 1st one. It really took my time. I tried to focus. Even many times I didn't sleep all night just to write some pages. Sometimes I wrote it with tears, laugh even with anger.

Sorry, I can't tell anything about the story for a while. As soon as i get good news about the launching, I'll let you know the synopsis. But I tell you little secret. This book is telling about 'life companion' and culture. Here I will not telling about Pakistan anymore. Here I will bring you all to Kenya. I work hard to study Swahili.

Now, the draft is on the right person. Let see, the good news that will come soon. And I'm ready to prepare another book. Yeah, I think i have to determine what should I do for my future. I will be a well known author. I'm targeting myself to make novels in grammatically English. I intend to take literary college. Insya Allah. So, just wait for my next news.

P.S. You are what you think all day long

RESOLUTION 2009

Finally, we are at the end on year. Year 2008 is going to over soon in a few hours from now. And Year 2009 is ready to welcome us. Then this is the right time to evaluate resolution 2008. Have you reached all of your targets? If yes, congratulation. If haven't, how could it happened? Have you given the best efforts for that? If you have done the best efforts but you haven't gotten what you expected. May be you need more time to get that. Its time to evaluate your efforts and targets then improve the efforts. Keep dreaming, praying, and trying to reach that and let the miracle comes over.

Almost 80 % of my resolution in 2008 has been reached. But I think I need to add the failed resolution to next targets in 2009. So here is my resolution in 2009:
  1. VOA (Voice Of America) will call me and I pass all the tests to join Broadcasting Fellowship Program. Then I'll moving soon to Washington. VOA here I come!
  2. My next novel finally release before mid of 2009 and get positive responds than before.
  3. Surat Cinta Saiful Malook in the movie will be released and rock Indonesia.
  4. I want blue, cute, and sophisticated UMPC to facilitate my writing hobby. Please, i really want it!
  5. I'll build a real family.
Mmmhhhhh, That my short term targets. And ofcourse I have some personal resolutions that I can't share here. I'll try my best to get that. But Insha Allah, I'm strong enough to accept whatever that Allah gives to me is the best for my life. So ganbatte!! Lets strive to go success.

I'm An Eagle Mania

Hello, My name is Risma. I'm working on TV station which has eagle as a corporate symbol. I love this place. I have a nice job with great friends and bosses. I love to wear the blue uniform, because I'm a blue addict.

Few days ago, my friend Mas Murti reminded me about something stupid that I've never imagined before.
"Wow, are you a metro devotee? Till you have to choose eagle street from many streets in Jakarta for your house".

Yeah, girls and guys. Now I'm living in a nice place in South Jakarta. Its Jalan Elang or Eagle street.

Finally, Saturday 22 November 2008 I'll go to 'Pesta Blogger 2008'. Its an annual blogger community gathering. I got good sign from my husband that I can go there if only I have a female friend to go there. According to 'sunnah rasul', a woman is not allowed to go out without her 'muhrim' or husband. And finally I have a friend to go there. She is Lanny. She was my co-worker when I was a teacher. We have a pretty good relationship, but we haven't met since 8 months ago. She is also a blogger but she hasn't been registered yet. I have. So we agreed to come in earlier morning 8 a.m. Because we need to register first. Mas Miko and Mas Murti will also come there.

So guys and girls, I'll be there to see you all.

Saturday in November Rain

Last Saturday 15 November 2008 was really my bad day. Terrible Saturday that successfully made my remain weekend was going bad. Actually more than a week before I had planed to go to my friend (Hanum) wedding with Selvi. So she could spend a night in my house before. And just took a direct way to go there from Bintaro to Ciracas. And the plans had been agreed by both of us. No changes until Thursday 13 November 2008.

Then my another friend proposed another interesting plan to go to the wedding. "Why don't we use company car so we can go together?"

I thought it was nice plans. Ok, because we would be there with other 7 people. It would be nice went there together not only with Selvi. Then I changed my first plan. When the day came. Only me, Selvi and another guy who were available to go. Because other girls couldn't leave their scheduled time. Damn! We had booked that car for 8 people. I thought we would had fun together. I almost canceled my plan to go to weeding, but because I had promised to bring the gift that we had prepared before. I continued my plan. We went with company driver. I was little bit disappointed.

I came there late, and most of food had finished. Just some of main course. I was in starving. Alhamdulillah, i could still eat something. I just met with some friends there. I was not really enjoying the party. Then I, selvi and another guy came home with the driver. I asked the driver to dropped us in JACC Senayan. I would buy some books in book fair.

Finally We came there. After a very traffic jam. It was late, almost 4.30pm. I got some books. Just 2 big books and a novel. I didn't have much cash. Just remain 7 US$. And I didn't find any ATM. When I decided to go home. It was heavy rain. Subhanallah. I was so tired, I wore stiletto. I sat with Selvi near the gate. Then after took pictures, we decided to continue book hunting. We both put off our shoes, and waked around with bare feet.

It was almost 7pm. And the rain falls hadn't stopped yet. We walked out and waited for a cab. No Cab. All cab hadn't be reserved. Subhanallah! And we didn't bring any umbrella, because we just brought a small party pouch. We insisted to go home. We hired an umbrella man to pass the rain. It was 2 kilometers. We put of the stiletto and walked in the rain. I couldn't imagine what people imagined when saw us, two girls in the dark rain night walked with bare feet.

Then I and Selvi separated. I still had to take some bus. When I saw 'ojek' ( motorcycle used for public transport). I asked him to drop me to Blok M with 1 US$ cost. I intended to get some cash in ATM near there then take bus. We dealt, but then before we arrived he asked me more.

"Where will you go?"

"Ummhhh, Actually I would go to Bintaro". I said.

"I know that place, ok I will drop you there. My home is not so far from there, and I want to go home. Just pay me 35,000 IDR (3.5 US$)!"

"Ok...I agree", I think it was a great price. Could you imagine? It was a heavy rain and some place were flooding.

"Would you please to drop me to ATM, I need to get some cash", I begged. He said ok. And He dropped me safely to home.

It was really bad day. On Sunday, I really took a rest. I didn't go outside. Even I didn't open my door and window. I could imagine what neighbor said about me. A mysterious girl. As I usually left the house in the early morning, and arrived after 7pm every work days. Even on weekend, I didn't go.

The lesson that i got:
  1. Never ever changed your plans!
  2. Prepare your convenience shoes (flat or wedges shoes) if you want to hunt book in book fair.
  3. Don't forget to prepare umbrella.
  4. Prepare your cash.
  5. Avoid to go outside in the rain season.

BIG HOPES FOR OBAMA

The whole world is watching the electoral theater in USA now. The US election really gets worldwide attention. Because USA as a super power country with its veto right has important role to decide the world. Some of USA policies although it was not supported by UN, have colored the human life in the world. Popular economic writers frequently trot out the dictum "when the U.S. sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold." Well maybe -- in some respects the health of the U.S. economy is so important to the world economy that this saying captures a truth.

The president’s policy is very important to change the country. Moreover the country is a super power country such as USA. A president policy is not only important for its country but also can change the world. Recent US election gets more attention from the world due to there are so many problems that should be solved as soon as possible; politic conflict in some countries which needs USA as a mediator, economic recession which was started by sub prime mortgage crisis, etc. A whole world is waiting for the next USA president who can solve all issues. Moreover one of president candidates is an Afro-American who represents minority in USA. USA and the world is really expecting someone who can bring chance for USA and the world.

This US election becomes popular and grabs world attention even in Indonesia, not only because Obama is an Afro-American. Why? Because, apparently, Barack Obama spent his childhood in Jakarta in late 1960’s after his mother, Ann Durham, married to an Indonesian student named Lolo Soetoro, who was pursuing an MA degree in East-West Center, University of Hawaii. Then Obama was brought to his new family in Indonesia. He spent his elementary school-age in SD Besuki and SD Asisi for 2 years.

Today, we know together that American people have chosen Obama for their next president. Congratulation obama! Victory for Barack Obama would mark US democracy's triumph over half the problem of race in America. It would underscore the vitality of America's most distinctive and powerful master trend—assimilation between black and white. An Obama victory would mark, the completeion of the process of mass democratic inclusion. The outcome of 4th Novemeber 2008: It's now clear that there is no more distinctive between black and white. Black are ready, able and poised to lead the nation.

American has successfully changed the world's mind about democracy. Everybody has same opportunity in America, even they are immigrants, black, white, young, old, women, men etc to build America to be better. Also change to the better world. But it means heavy duties has been waiting for Obama. All eyes over the world put big hopes for Obama. And of course they are looking at Obama steps now. If Obama fails, everybody may be will blame him also.

I will not tell much here. Ok, Mr. Obama! Congratulation! Me and world people are putting big hopes for you. Do the best! Create a peace and better world! Prove to us that you can do THE CHANGE WE NEED.

Testing

TESTING

"Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability" (Al Baqarah:286)

Last night I chatted with one of my best friend. She graduated from IPB also. We spent 2 years together in previous office. But since I moved to recent company. As long as I knew- she was a nice-looking, pretty, smart, exciting, interesting, etc. She hasn't married yet. But she always thought that was her mistakes. He has given up to pray.

"Well, right now I don't want to push Allah to grant what I want. Because I will not ask anything anymore. I'm thankful for this life. But I will not ask anymore. Praying, wishing, and hoping made me frustrated if it wasn't happened. Enough........I will not ask for a soul-mate again!"

I shocked, "Subhanallah! Why did you tell like that. Keep your mouth! As i told you for many times, Allah will always answer HIS slaver prayer. HE says YES, and you'll get what you want as soon as possible. HE says NO, and you'll get different but better that you need. Allah says WAIT, until the perfect time. Trust me! Allah knows better than us".

"Please don't try to force me to pray and ask something that I'm not sure it will be granted".She said like that.

Aishah radhiallahu `anha is reported to have said, “No believer makes du`a and it is wasted. Either it is granted here in this world or deposited for him in the Hereafter as long as he does not get frustrated".

"So just take it easy. I'm pretty sure that you'll marry as soon as possible next year. And this recent job will bring you to lucky. This is the way that Allah prepared for your marriage. Working in nice place and then get married. Just wait! You've just gotten your happiness through new prospective job. Why don't you wait a little moment", I told her.

"Well, I'll not wait. I just want to enjoy my life. I just want to realize that I'm living in reality. I'm tired to dream or expect something. Its enough. I'm not stronger as you. So just let me enjoy my life. because life with great expectation will only disappointing me", She said in sad.

"You are what you think all day long. You've been thinking that you'll not get what you want-expect-and dream. So you just get that". I tried to ensure the miracle of dream and expectation.

"Gosh I don't need to dream anything. I just want to enjoy my life!"

"Ok, I'll not force you to do something that will bother you. One my advice, please never forget to do salaat!"

I couldn't talk longer. She was upset and gave up to dream. She wast just being tested by Allah. Because Allah loves her so much.

Al-Ibtilaa' means to be tried or tested. Allah tests us with wealth, plenty, ease and power just as He tests us with poverty, hardship and oppression. Al-Ibtilaa' is a sunnah of Allah Most High. Throughout history, Allah has tested the bearers of His messages and others among His slaves. The test of Allah can be very hard, but by means of it Allah raises the level of His prophets and erases the sins of the righteous believers. The complete defeat of the Muslims and the overrunning of their homes and property by the disbelievers is NOT one of Allah's tests which he puts on the believers. Rather, it is a sign of their having fallen out of Allah's favor through their crimes and sins.

The Prophet(sas) informed us that the presence of tests indicates the presence of iman and that a believer may continue to be tested until he has no sin remaining. Although Allah's tests can benefit us in the long run, a believer does not wish for the test of Allah - rather he always hopes for the forgiveness and mercy of Allah Most High. Allah said in the Qur'an:

{And we will surely test you with some fear, hunger and shortages of property, people and produce. But give good tidings to the steadfast. Those who, when a calamity befalls them say: "We belong to Allah and to Him we return." Upon these are prayers from their Lord and mercy and these are the rightly-guided ones.}
Al-Baqarah: 155-157

Allah's test which we may face include:

Fear - a state of insecurity and fear from harm which may be inflicted by enemies or oppressive rulers or common criminals. This is a test currently being faced by Muslims in many parts of the world.
Hunger - local famines from natural causes or as a result of war and oppression.
Shortage of Property - caused by imbalances in the Muslim Ummah and the failure for parts of it to help other parts. There will never global poverty or famine in this Ummah because Allah has promised never to destroy the Muslims with these things.
Shortage of People - from death through diseases or jihad or the abandmonent of Islam by many of its people.

When afflicted with these kind of tests, a believer remembers Allah and that Allah created us from nothing, is in full control of all events and is the one who we will face for judgement in the hereafter. This is the consciousness of the qadr (omnipotence) of Allah Most High. This is the consciousness which gives us patience and steadfastness before whatever tests we may face from Allah.

In another verse, Allah said:

"We will surely test you in your wealth and in yourselves and you will hear many hurtful things from those who were given the book before you and from those who associate others with Alalh. If you are steadfast and beware of Allah, that is the strongest position."
Aal 'Imraan: 186

Man proposes and God disposes. At least we have done the best, so just let Allah decides. Never ever under estimates Allah. Allah knows the best. Sometimes Allah doesn't give what we want, but surely HE gives us what we need. So keep trying, praying and dreaming!!! Then waiting for the best results:-)

ONLINE SHOPPING ADDICT

ONLINE SHOPPING ADDICT
Its been long time I haven't updated my blog. I have another blog and I was so busy. I have new hobbies that spent my spare times. Online shopping addict. It was fun. I was just sitting on my chair while I had done my works and then browsed. I was just sightseeing to get something blue, unique, branded and cheap. Garage sale was more preferable for me. Sometime people junks was other people treasures. If you are lucky as me you will get a nice, branded, good quality things with tag price. Wow, its real treasure.

May be I was late because I have known online shopping since 3 years ago. I bought my cute blue LG hand phone from a website. And I felt like a celebrity due to my hand phone was unfamiliar. No body owned the same as mine. Actually I saw the same model of that here but only in silver, black. Mine was baby blue. But when my cute hand phone got damage, LG service center didn't have the original keypad for mine. I got keypad for silver and black type. Until now I still used it as my second hand phone, although the LCD screen has totally damaged. BLANK. But I still can use for calling. Hehehhehe.......

Internet shopping world has been a trend. Shopping online is becoming so consumer friendly. As long you have credit card or internet banking account. Just sitting in front of your PC and let Internet bring you to its world. We don't need to spend more money for gasoline, transport, parking ticket, buy ice creams or other things. People are discovering how much time and money the internet can save them. Its fascinating and exciting.

People are doing more shopping on the internet all the time. They are becoming savvy about research. Word of mouth is still important and apparently shoppers do not even need to know one another personally to appreciate their review. However, a recommendation by a friend is still a powerful influence. Personally, I did not know of eligible and trusty worthy online stores which I bought. If my friends asked me, "Do you believe them?" I just said "Yeah, why not?".

"Why?"

"I just used my feeling". I was just like another surfers. I was looking around, stopped at nice online stores, then looked at products that I needed or wanted. If it was good enough. Just buy it. Never ever buy something if you don't really need that. Thats my tips........So you will not shop until you drop. Remember global financial cricis that happens!!! Save your dollars now!
